How Do Solar Panels Work?
A solar panel works by allowing photons, or particles of light, to knock electrons free from atoms, generating a flow of electricity (Photovoltaic simply means they convert sunlight into electricity.)
When photons hit a solar cell, they knock electrons loose from their atoms. If conductors are attached to the positive and negative sides of a cell, it forms an electrical circuit. When electrons flow through such a circuit, they generate electricity. Multiple cells make up a solar panel, and multiple panels (modules) can be wired together to form a solar array. The more panels you can deploy, the more energy you can expect to generate.
Why should I consider Gaia Green Earth, when some competitors offer higher wattages?
Solar Panel Efficiency determines how much power can be generated in the same amount of space. Some solar panels try to compensate for lower efficiency by creating larger-sized panels to increase wattage, but this doesn’t solve a homeowner’s power needs since the home’s available roof space cannot change.
